Chris Pine to star in 'Welcome to People'

Chris Pine, who will soon be seen alongside Denzel Washington in "Unstoppable," is in talks to join Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut "Welcome to People," a drama which DreamWorks is developing.

The story follows a man who travels to L.A. for his dad's funeral and finds out he has to deliver $150,000 in cash to an alcoholic sister he never knew existed. He first contacts her without telling her who he is.

Pine played James T. Kirk in "Star Trek," and he's back for a sequel, which Kurtzman is co-writing. He's also got "This Means War" coming soon. Kurtzman most recently wrote "Cowboys & Aliens." (THR)
