'The Social Network' aims for box office glory

The Social Network will rule box office

Three wide releases will enter the box office race this weekend, but it's safe to say David Fincher's "The Social Network" will crush them all. Honestly, the film's been all over the place recently...

Needless to say, "The Social Network" should do great, considering it's backed by a big marketing campaign, superb reviews from top critics, and... oh yes, tons of honest Facebook users dying to see this.

No, not everybody who's using Facebook addictively gives a crap about how the whole thing came to be, but "The Social Network" does have the biggest release this weekend with a presence at 2,700 sites.

Starting at 2,000 locations are "Let Me In" and "Case 39." The former will likely do well enough too, even though it's almost a shot-for-shot remake. That said, it's backed by excellent reviews as well.

As for "Case 39," I believe it will tank. It may not deliver a disastrous performance, but I just don't see this thing coming at us with a surprise opening. I know it's got Bradley Cooper in it, but it still looks like shit.

In terms of recommendations, go see "The Social Network." It truly is a masterpiece in my book, and I can't wait to see it again. "Let Me In" is a slower film, so if you give it a shot, don't expect tons of action.

But yes, Fincher's "Network" deserves tons of attention. It really is that good. You have to friend it.
