Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning join 'Super 8'

J. J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg's secret "Super 8" project is in production at the moment, and Elle Fanning and Kyle Chandler are the first to officially join the cast of the upcoming sci-fi suspense thriller.

Vulture first reported the casting news. Of course, not much is known about this project yet, but it seems like the plot follows three siblings discovering an alien in some Super 8 footage they shot.

Chandler is known for his role as Eric Taylor on TV's "Friday Night Lights." As for Elle Fanning, she's Dakota's sister. Her credits include "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Phoebe in Wonderland."
