The Rock to star in 'Center of the Earth' sequel

Dwayne Johnson is jumping from genre to gerne like crazy, and I guess for him, that's a good thing. His latest potential gig: a lead role in New Line Cinema's 3D sequel "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island."
The film, of course, is the sequel to "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D," and no, Brendan Fraser won't be back because of scheduling conflicts. Johnson fills the role of the grown-up main guy in the film.
In terms of story, Heat Vision reports Johnson plays the boyfriend of Josh Hutcherson's mother. Hutcherson's character is forced to bring him along on a trip to a mysterious island to find his granddad.
Johnson has been a busy guy. He recently starred in "The Other Guys," and he has "Faster" coming soon. He also appears in "The Fast and the Furious 5" or "Fast Five." "Journey 2" will be shot in 3D as well.
