Alex Kurtzman to direct 'Welcome to People'

Yes, that's THE Alex Kurtzman, the dude who co-wrote films such as "Mission: Impossible III," "Star Trek" and "Transformers." Kurtzman will indeed make his directorial debut with "Welcome to People."

DreamWorks will develop the drama, according to Vulture. Robert Orci and Jody Lambert collaborated with Kurtzman on the script, which does not feature aliens or explosions. It really is a heavy drama.

The story follows a man who travels to L.A. for his dad's funeral and finds out he has to deliver $150,000 in cash to an alcoholic sister he never knew existed. He first contacts her without telling her who he is.

Kurtzman most recently wrote "Cowboys & Aliens," and he's working on a "Star Trek" sequel. Word is the script for "Welcome to People" is already half a decade old. I guess it's time to get it done then.
