'Vampires Suck' tops Wednesday box office

No, I haven't seen "Vampires Suck" yet, but I have that feeling it's a piece of junk. After all, it's the latest movie from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, dudes behind "Disaster Movie" and "Epic Movie."
Still, "Vampires Suck" opened Wednesday and jumped straight to the top of the box office, earning $4 million from ticket sales at 2,978 sites. Average per theater stood at $1,349, which is not all that terrible.
"Suck" is a spoof of films like "Twilight" and "Alice in Wonderland." I don't think it will hold up for long up there, but yes, it beat Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" Wednesday (that one took $3 million).
Other than that, "Eat Pray Love" bagged $2.9 million, while "The Other Guys" generated $1.9 million. Opening today and joining the race are "Piranha 3D," "The Switch," "Lottery Ticket" and "Nanny McPhee 2."
