'Avatar' returns to theaters this August

James Cameron's "Avatar" is chasing after some more money, and cinemagoers will be able to relive the 3D experience in theaters Aug. 27, 2010. Fox announced it will also re-release the film in IMAX.

The studio's official statement says the number of 3D screens has exploded this year, so people who missed "Avatar" in 3D will now get the chance. The movie will also include 8 minutes of new footage.

Eight only? Is it really going to be worth it to run back to the cinemas for that? In my book no, but I am sure fans of the flick will definitely return for another round of Pandora madness. What about you?

Frank, you seem to be unaware of the fact that when Avatar was taken off the movie theaters earlier this year, its screenings were still fully booked, and its daily grosses were still higher than most new releases (blockbuster included at the time). The only reason they had to take it off the screens was to leave room for Alice In Wonderland to come out in Imax and 3D theaters as well. And it was already planned at the time that it would obviously come back out later this year. Adding 8 minutes of footage is just a plus, a gesture to the audience... and a marketing tool as well of course, but it is not the actual reason why the movie will be out again.

I'm definitely going to see it again, and I can guaranty you I'm far from being the only one. I say, it'll make another billion dollars at least for sure, raising its gross to 3.7 leaving for only hope to beat its gross... The 3D re-release of Titanic next year ! ...And at 15-18 bucks a 3D screening instead of the 1998 7-9 bucks, I can guaranty you that Titanic can make another 2 billion at least and beat whatever Avatar's final grosses will be at the time.

Both movies required hard work, a large human collaboration, an uncompromisable single vision as well as perfectionism. And both movies basically promote and show fights for pure love, fights for the survival of our kind and fights for the conservation of our natural environment - Titanic included, in which a supposedly indestructible man-made piece of floating metals is defied and won over by nature itself-.

Another billion? Get real. Even Cameron, who cried about the fact that 'Avatar' should' have pulled in more money, estimated it could make around $100 million from a re-release.

I saw Avatar but not in 3D. This go around I will see it on an IMAX 3D screen as it should be seen.
