'Inception' beats 'Salt' at Friday box office

It was a close race, but according to estimates, Christopher Nolan's "Inception" beat new release "Salt" the North American box office Friday. "Inception" finished first with $13.2 million in ticket sales.
That's a pretty darn good result for a film that's been doing well all week long. Domestically, "Inception" has already bagged $113.3 million, with eyes set on yet another weekend win. Quite amazing!
Phillip Noyce's "Salt," which stars Angelina Jolie as a CIA officer on the run, picked up $12.7 million Friday, which is not bad either. The film delivers the goods, and you should definitely go check it out.
Also opening this weekend was "Ramona and Beezus," but the family film only made it to No. 4 with $3 million. "Despicable Me" took the third spot with a daily gross of $7.3 million (144.9 million total haul).
Finally, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" pulled $2.9 million at No. 5. It has reached a cume of $35.9 million. With "Salt" and "Inception" that close, it will be interesting to see which flick will win the big battle.
