Emma Roberts boards 'Scream 4'

Dimension Films has recruited Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin for the upcoming Wes Craven-directed horror sequel "Scream 4." The film is scheduled for release April 15, 2011.

Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette are also back in action for the film, which Kevin Williamson wrote. Roberts will play Jill, a character who is also one of the film's heroines.

“I am so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise," Roberts said about her coming on board. "It's the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I’ve ever done before."

Craven, who also produces the flick said, "Her talent, beauty and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity and fun of the 'Scream' franchise as it returns to the screen once more.”

My two cents: Emma Roberts ("Hotel for Dogs," "Valentine's Day") has something appealing when it comes to acting, and I admit I'm indeed looking forward to what she can do in a horror flick.
