'Clash of the Titans' rules overseas box office

Warner's disappointing remake "Clash of the Titans" certainly isn't disappointing at the box office. The Louis Leterrier-directed adventure flick scored $54 million on the international circuit this weekend, and currently, the film's total overseas gross stands at $119.2 million. Sure, I agree that's not bad at all.

However, I'm more excited about the job DreamWorks Animation's 3D-animated flick "How to Train Your Dragon" is doing. The film bagged another solid $23.7 million this weekend, reaching a cumulative gross of $148.1 million. It's a wonderful film, and it deserves the moola it's pulling in.

Meanwhile, Tim Burton's new version of "Alice in Wonderland" finished third on the circuit with $19 million. Disney's hit movie has lifted its total gross to $461.5 million. Worldwide, the film has already made a stunning $780.8 million. Following in fourth place with $7.4 million was "Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang."

At No. 5, Martin Scorsese's thriller "Shutter Island" generated $7.3 million, bringing its cume to $143.9 million. Opening this weekend overseas was "Date Night," which bagged $7.1 million. "The Bounty Hunter" took home $7.2 million, and James Cameron's hit film "Avatar" grossed another $3.5 million.
