The players: Director: Tyler Perry, Writer: Tyler Perry, Cast: Janet Jackson, Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White
Facts of interest: None at all.
The plot: Four couples travel to the Bahamas to have a vacation. Alas, it turns out to be a disaster.
Our thoughts: Tyler Perry felt the urge to write and direct a sequel to his success comedy “Why Did I Get Married?,” and to tell you the truth, that was a terrible decision. It was a financially brilliant one because “Why Did I Get Married Too?” already bagged a lot of money at the box office, but in terms of quality, Perry clearly screwed up big time.
To tell you the truth, I hated this film. It’s as painful as a big-screen experience can get, and totally lacks the silly humor and hilarious surprises that made its predecessor so enjoyable to watch. Granted, the first “Married” was not a masterpiece, but it sure made me laugh a lot, and that’s always a good sign. The sequel, however, almost made my eyes and ears bleed.
In “Married Too,” the four couples we met a while back are meeting up again to enjoy a relaxing vacation in the Bahamas. Soon after everyone arrives though, tension mounts as the men and women start to speak up about their messy relationships and all the painful feelings they’ve been holding in for who knows how long.
I wouldn’t necessarily wait until a trip to the Bahamas to bring up any problems I might have in my relationship, but according to Perry, that’s the best way to deal with issues you may have with your partner or spouse. I’m not lying when I tell you that I have rarely seen onscreen characters act as retarded as these folks do in “Why Did I Get Married Too?” It truly is painful to watch.

I won’t go into much story details because it just doesn’t make any sense, but in a nutshell, the film follows how these four couples deal with martial issues such as fidelity, trust, honesty and anything else you can think of. Sure, some of what Perry tries to get at may be halfway true to life, but the way he is conveying his messages to his audience here is beyond brutal.
The solid jokes from the first film are all gone, and the plot of the sequel moves from boring conversations to overly melodramatic moments filled with a lot of screams and freak-outs. What kind of freak-outs? Well, just imagine Janet Jackson running around like a tiger destroying everything her way. That’s exactly what you can expect in this flick.
The characters in the film are meant to be comic in a way, but alas, they are not. They talk a whole lot for the most part, and most of what they say is utterly formulaic or even childish in a way. To tell you the truth, if everybody would react like this, I’m pretty sure the idea of marriage wouldn’t even exist anymore. The dialogue in this flick is as idiotic as you can imagine.
Freaky quote: "You start all of my arguments." - Tasha Smith
The final word: I could go into specifics and explain in detail why “Why Did I Get Married Too?” disappointed me, but it would be a waste of time. Perry’s efforts tanked, the story is boring and the acting stinks, but the movie keeps making a lot of money. Good for him. His wallet may be filling up more and more, but his latest movie sucks.

this REVIEW WAS THE PITTS AND THE WRITER, THIS ONE WAS BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE. ENJOY AND JANET CARRIED IT, EVEN THOUGH TP LACKED AS A WRITER.
Why do you go to see his movies? Find a writer that * does itfor you* and see that openeing weekend. Tyler Perry does NOT need your admission, and the theater does NOT need your popcorn money to survive.......... GET IT?
Tyler Perry does not need my admission, but I don't need his movie. And theaters today survive because people rush to see every shitty movie. By the way, Perry doesn't need your admission either.
My, my. Say something critical about a hit film and some people act as if you pooped on their religion.
The movie was boring and idiotic as crap. I totally agree with the author, especially on the bad acting. Janet stinks. Jill is just as bad. They killed off the best actor to do what? Replace him in 'Why did I get married 3' with THE ROCK? Talk about bad decisions.
I cannot believe it. I had a chance to see the movie on video. Thank God I didn't pay any real money for this movie. Tyler Perry has obviously drained out his creative pool. He has hit the concrete bottom.
THAT MOVIE WAS A TOTAL AND COMPLETE MESS! What about the gay man coming out of the cake? That scene is not necessary in any film, let alone a comedy about love. I think he went too far with the destruction of marriage under tones. What are you really trying to say Tyler Perry?
I thought that this was a great movie to watch I loved it. Sadly my co-workers from DISH told me to hold off until it came out on PPV or DVD because it wasn't that great. Why did I listen because normally they are right about these movies but in this case I have to say they were wrong. I just watched it on DISHonline.com and it turns out that I loved it. I don't know if there is going to be a third but if so I hope it’s just as good. Janet Jackson's performance was amazing and I couldn't believe that she went through with this movie after her brother past away. That is strength for you! Jill Scott did a wonderful job as well but the first one she really proved herself. I wonder whose next!
