Steven Spielberg to next direct 'Robopocalypse'

Steven Spielberg, the one man who can direct like three films at the same time, has just picked his next major project: the big-screen adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson's upcoming sci-fi novel "Robopocalypse."

Deadline says Drew Goddard ("Cloverfield," "The Cabin in the Woods") has already written the script, which Spielberg will direct in 2012. Touchstone Pictures will prep the film for a release 2013.

Wilson's anticipated novel follows the human race's attempt to survive an apocalypse triggered by robots. Sounds a bit familiar, but what the hell... Spielberg knows how to pick solid projects, so I trust him.

As for Spielberg's upcoming film, he's got "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" coming in 2011. Opening just a couple of days after that one is his "War Horse." Man keeps himself busy...
