Box Office: 'Jackass 3D' bags a massive $50M!

Stupidity reigned at the North American box office this weekend, as Johnny Knoxville's "Jackass 3D" raced to the top spot with a strong $50 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday.
Directed by Jeff Tremaine and featuring the "Jackass" regulars, the flick scored a massive average of $16,228 per theater at 3,081 locations. Opening gross is almost double that of "Jackass: Number Two."
At a distant second place, Summit Entertainment's action comedy "RED" debuted with $22.5 million. The Robert Schwentke-directed movie stars Bruce Willis as a retired black-ops agent targeted by the CIA.
Last week's winner "The Social Network" slipped to No. 3 this weekend, earning another $11 million for a cume of $63.1 million. "Secretariat" followed at No. 4 with $9.5 million for a domestic total of $27.5 million.
Meanwhile, "Life as We Know It" with Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel picked up $9.2 million in fifth place, reaching a total haul of $28.8 million. The film is $10 million away from topping its budget.
At No. 6, Zack Snyder's "Legend of the Guardians" generated $4.2 million, lifting its cumulative gross to $46 million. Ben Affleck's "The Town" followed in seventh place with $4 million ($80.5 million total).
Dropping four spots to No. 8 this weekend was Wes Craven's 3D horror flick "My Soul to Take," which took home $3.1 million for a total of $11.9 million. "Easy A" was No. 9 (weekend take of $2.6 million).
Rounding out the top 10 was Oliver Stone's "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," which reached a cume of $47.8 million after weekend earnings of $2.3 million. (Source: Box Office Mojo www.boxofficemojo.com)
