Movie Review: "Jackass 3D"

Seen on: October 15, 2010

The players: Director: Jeff Tremaine, Writer: Preston Lacy, Cast: Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn

Facts of interest: Rumor has it this could be the last "Jackass" movie.

The plot: Knoxville and his band of crazy buddies are back doing silly stunts and stupid jokes to entertain their fans.

Our thoughts: Johnny Knoxville and his gang of dauntless idiots are back in action on the big-screen with “Jackass 3D,” and no, I’m definitely not ashamed to say I had a blast watching those fools do what they do best in this third installment of the series.

Not every stunt in the film provokes huge laughs, but all in all, “Jackass 3D” manages to provide excellent entertainment for those not minding the fascinating stupidity of Knoxville and Co.

Reviewing this kind of movie is quite a challenge, so I’ll keep it short. The film is structured just like its predecessors, with Knoxville and his buddies engaging in a series of short stunts or ridiculous skits intended to gross out viewers and make them laugh at the same time.

Some definitely work a lot better than others, but it’s safe to say they’re all as utterly brainless and repulsive as you can imagine. Let’s not forget this is “Jackass” after all.

The movie’s showing in 3D, but sadly enough, the sequences utilizing the technology to their advantage are rather limited.

The stunts, however, are still quite creative, and when Knoxville’s team is not trying to get hurt using bikes, jet skis, skates and catapults, the guys keep themselves busy pulling weird jokes/skits involving human and dog shit, sweat cocktails, trumpets, pigs, bulls, tasers, snakes, airplanes, a fake gorilla and blue paint.

Freaky quote: "Me and the boys are about to do a little duck huntin'." - Johnny Knoxville

The final word: The imagination here goes wild, and the result is mostly hilarious. Some stunts were not planned as well as others, but when I look back at the movie as a whole, I can’t help myself but say I almost enjoyed every minute of this thing.

It is what it is and it’s completely stupid and mostly disgusting, but if you don’t mind shutting off your brain for a bit and observe relentless idiocy unfold on the screen, “Jackass 3D” won’t disappoint, I guarantee it.
