Jason Momoa cast as new 'Conan'

Conan the Barbarian is finally cast! As Mike Fleming reported on Deadline, Jason Momoa will play the lead character in Marcus Nispel's Nu Image/Millennium Films remake of John Milius' 1982 action fantasy.
The race came down to Momoa and Kellan Lutz, but Momoa impressed everyone involved in the casting process. The new "Conan" has been in development for a while, but it hit a few bumps along the way.
Now the project is on track for a production start in a couple of months. A release is tentatively set for 2011. As for Momoa, his credits include "Stargate: Atlantis," "North Shore" and "Baywatch," of course.
The original is based on stories by Robert E. Howard. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote the script for the remake. Nispel directed "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Friday the 13th."
In related news, Latino Review reports Mickey Rourke was offered the role of Corin, Conan's father!

What an AWFUL choice. Congratulations on bastardizing an icon. Last I checked, Conan wasn't a scrawny, Hawaiiian fruitcake. Utter blasphemy.
I can understand the choice to some degree because there are no more Arnold's in the world that fit the bill ! That being said I would hope this guy has put on some serious size to pull it off ! I see the potential there. He has the look that could pull it off just not the build ! He appears to be a tall guy so he needs another 60 pounds of solid muscle to appear as a younger Conan ! Tall men have a very difficult time filling out their long limbs to look muscular. That is why it is so difficult to find a person to play the role ! Arnold was a rare individual !
The movie is shaping up to be a sequel that may compete with what "Caddyshack II" was to "Caddyshack" .. unbelievably horrible casting.
common hollywood,,dont ruin the movie and the comic books..conan has to be a pure white man..thick and tall and very angry in the face kind of looking..not some rasta mixed race kid who doesent look like conan even 1%..he is more like the Aladin or sinbad kind of guy....we need a huge WHITE MAN for the part......
