'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' gets a trailer!

The folks at Yahoo! Movies just released the first trailer for Thor Freudenthal's upcoming family flick "Diary of a Wimpy Kid," the big-screen adaptation of Jeff Kinney's illustrated series. Watch it right after the jump.
The film follows Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), a pre-adolescent boy who gets into quite a bit of trouble at school and at home. Chloe Moretz, Steve Zahn, Rachael Harris, Alex Ferris and Robert Capron star.
"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is on track to open in theaters April 2, 2010. I can't say I fell in love with this first trailer, but this could potentially turn into a fun flick youngsters may actually enjoy. Cast looks good.

I am a 45 year old man and my kids (all 3:ages 11-16) got me to read the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” book series. I didn’t know what to expect, however, I have to say that, after reading the first book, I found myself laughing out loud. Since then I have read all 4. Any kid or adult, for that matter, can enjoy these books.
There is a lot to connect with in these books, about a very tough time for just about anyone who ever went to Jr. High School(now called Middle School) and survived. It’s about real experiences that all of us can relate to in one way or another.
The movie trailer looks really good! Our favorite character is Greg and the kid actor who plays him seems to carry it off very well. My kids love it and our whole family is looking forward to seeing this transition from a cartoon book novel to big screen cinema. As a parent, it is refreshing to see a family movie that is going to be entertaining and just plain fun theater going, all at the same time. And all this without watching 2 hours of Computer Graphics? From the glimpse I see in the trailer, I expect this to be one of the more entertaining movies of 2010. I would certainly recommend the books and this upcoming movie to anyone of any age.
