Peter Sarsgaard to play villain in 'Green Lantern'
With leads cast, 'Green Lantern' now finds its main villain!
Peter Sarsgaard may slip into the role of the villain in Martin Campbell's upcoming action adventure "Green Lantern," which should start shooting in a couple of months. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are also on board.
The Hollywood Reporter says Sarsgaard is in talks to play Dr. Hector Hammond, a pathologist who is seen as a loser by his father. He acquires some badass powers when he finds a meteor and will eventually clash with the film's hero.
Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, a test pilot who comes into possession of a ring that holds great powers and later helps him become Green Lantern. Blake Lively will play Carol Ferris, who runs an aerospace company and hires Jordan.
Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green, and Michael Goldenberg all worked on the "Lantern" script. The film is currently slated for release June 17, 2011.
Sarsgaard, by the way, seems like an awesome choice. I loved him in "Garden State," and he did well in "Orphan," "Kinsey," "Flightplan" and "Jarhead." I have a feeling he can pull this one off just fine.
