Channing Tatum set for Soderbergh's 'Knockout'

'G.I. Joe' actor goes black ops in Soderbergh action flick

Steven Soderbergh will direct Relativity Media's action flick "Knockout," and the latest to join fighter Gina Carano in the film is Channing Tatum, according to the folks at The Playlist. Apparently, Antonio Banderas is also in talks to jump on board.

Tatum is joining a solid cast that includes Michael Douglas, Dennis Quaid, Ewan McGregor and Michael Fassbender in supporting roles. In the film, Carano is set to play a skilled, yet troubled spy betrayed by her own team.

Playlist reports Tatum will play a member of the black ops team hunting down Carano's character after she's gone all Jason Bourne on everybody. "Knockout" is described as a flick featuring "a lot of duplicity, double crosses and even reversals of allegiances."

"Knockout" will be filming around the world in February. Tatum, who recently starred in "Fighting" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," will soon be seen in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "Dear John." Soderbergh last helmed "The Informant!"
