New details for Stone's 'Wall Street 2' surface

Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas

In case you haven't heard, Oliver Stone is making "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps," a sequel to the 1987 "Wall Street," and the project is coming together fast, with a theatrical release already set for April 23, 2010.

So here's a quick summary: Michael Douglas is back as Gordon Gekko, and the cast also includes Shia LaBeouf, Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon and Josh Brolin.

LaBeouf will play a young Wall Street trader, and Sarandon will play his mother. Frank Langella portrays Lewis Zabel, a broker who acts as a mentor to the LaBeouf's character. Brolin is the head of an investment bank, by the way.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Stone revealed some more details about "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Here's some new story detail:

“When Gekko comes out of prison in the beginning of this movie, he essentially has to redefine himself, redefine his character. He’s looking for that second chance.”

Allan Loeb also rewrote a script that kind of circulated around for some time, and Alex Young, co-president of production at 20th Century Fox, commented on this:

“We sort of started over with the story of a young man who is at the center of it, and how he needs Gordon Gekko’s help to navigate those waters."

By the way, also on board for a cameo is Charlie Sheen, who played Bud Fox in the original film. For more on the this, head over to the NY Times.
