
• How about this? While "Resident Evil: AfterLife" is about to enter production, Screen Gems is already looking at a potential fifth flick, according to Bloody Disgusting. The film is described as a quasi-reboot, and at this stage, it's apparently titled "Resident Evil Begins."
• David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express") is still attached to direct a remake of Dario Argento's 1977 horror classic "Suspiria" for First Sun, and according to Variety, the film is now set to shoot in 2010. A while ago, Green also told ComingSoon the English remake will follow a New York ballet student going to Germany.
• A big-screen adaptation of Michael Ondaatje novel "Coming Through Slaughter" is currently in development, and Variety says the project is moving forward. Mark Bailey adapted the book, which deals with the birth of Jazz. Ondaatje also wrote "The English Patient," which also made it into a successful big-screen version.
• The folks at Collider report that according to one of their sources, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are working hard on a script for the upcoming live-action adaptation of "Akira." Their writing credits include "Children of Men," and they also worked on "Iron Man." If this turns out to be true, I'm sure we will hear more about this one soon.
