Steven Soderbergh is all set to direct Relativity Media's "Knockout," as his next project, with fighter Gina Carano on board as the lead character in what Variety describes as a spy thriller.
Lem Dobbs wrote the script, which follows a troubled girl "who is given a second chance to use her skills for constructive purposes." The film is described as an action flick in the style of the James Bond films.
"Knockout" will be Carano's big-screen debut, and production is set to start as early as January 2010. The plan is to shoot the pic around the world.
Soderbergh has "The Informant!" with Matt Damon opening this fall. He's also got "Cleo" in development. Recent credits of his include "The Girlfriend Experience" and "Che."
