Patrick Lussier to direct 'Halloween 3D'?

After the release of Rob Zombie's "Halloween II" last weekend, Bob Weinstein rushed to announce the development of "Halloween 3D," which he hope will be ready by summer 2010. Names of potential directors have been thrown around already, but it looks like one guy is in serious talks for the gig.

According to Variety, Patrick Lussier is in negotiations to write and direct "Halloween 3D." Lussier, of course, most recently directed "My Bloody Valentine," which means he's already got experience working with the third dimension.

Lussier is keeping himself busy these days. Just last week, he boarded "Drive Angry," a 3D action flick with Nicolas Cage in the lead. The 3D format has already proven to be quite lucrative, and that's the reason we're in for more "Halloween" as well.

I definitely enjoy 3D here and there, but watching Michael Myers slash his victims in the third dimension doesn't sound all too intriguing to me. Maybe it's because I failed to enjoy Zombie's sequel. Or maybe it's because I'm just dying to see something a little bit more original on the big screen.

What do you guys think? Great news or big blow?
