'Final Destination' holds on to No. 1 Friday

New Line Cinema's 3D horror adventure "The Final Destination" slashed its competition for the second consecutive Friday at the North American box office, holding on to the No.1 spot with $3.5 million in ticket sales.
The David R. Ellis-directed fourth installment in the popular series scored a solid average of $1,145 per theater at 3,121 locations. The film's current domestic total stands at $38.7 million after just one week in release.
Following in second place was Sandra Bullock's new comedy "All About Steve," which despite numerous terrible reviews, brought in $3.5 million from ticket sales at 2,251 locations.
In the film, Bullock plays a crossword constructor following the love of her life (Bradely Cooper) across the whole country. Also starring is Thomas Haden Church.
At No. 3, Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine's action flick "Gamer" debuted with $3.3 million. Starring Gerard Butler, the plot focuses on a deadly online multiplayer game in which humans control other humans.
Mike Judge's "Extract," this weekend's other wide release, finished seventh with $1.3 million from ticket sales at only 1,611 locations. Jason Bateman stars as an extract plant owner dealing with troubles at work and at home.
Meanwhile, Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" took home another $3 million at No. 4 Friday, lifting its cumulative gross to $83.1 million. Following in fifth place with $1.7 million was "District 9," which reached a cume of $96 million.
