Daily news dose: 'Tron Legacy' release date update; Jeff Foxworthy voices 'Bunyan & Babe'

Here's your dose of film news for Sept. 4, 2009:

• Walt Disney Pictures just announced it will release "Tron Legacy" on Dec. 17, 2010. Joseph Kosinski is directing the film, which follows Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, who looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years.

• Colin Hanks, Ari Graynor, Ann-Margret and Jeffrey Tambor have signed on to star in Gil Cates Jr.'s upcoming indie "Lucky," (Kent Sublette wrote the script) a comedy about a serial killer who wins the lottery and heads out to go after his lifelong crush. Hanks recently starred in "The Great Buck Howard" and "The House Bunny." (Variety)

• Devon Graye, CJ Thomason and Wes Chatham have been cast in Brett Simmons' upcoming horror flick "Husk," about five friends who encounter reanimated human scarecrows after getting stranded in a farmland. Simmons also wrote the script based on his short film. Tammin Sursok co-stars. (The Hollywood Reporter)

• Jeff Foxworthy will lend his voice to Babe the Blue Ox in "Bunyan & Babe," an animated feature directed by Tony Bancroft and Jim Rygiel. The film follows Paul Bunyan and his sidekick Babe as they head out to save a town from a greedy real estate developer. John Goodman and Kelsey Grammer are also part of the voice cast. (THR)
