Not too long ago, Bob Weinstein rushed to announce the Weinstein Co.'s Dimension Films would start development on "Halloween 3-D," with a release planned already for summer 2010. That ain't happening!

According to Nikki Finke, the Weinstein Co. and Dimension put the horror project on hold for now, primarily because things felt too rushed and there just didn't seem to be enough time to get it all together so soon.

Finke says the film was supposed to head into production by November to have it done by January, because that's when the film's director Patrick Lussier launches into production on "Drive Angry."

That wouldn't have worked out though, because a first draft of the script was submitted only last weekend. So there; that's one of the reasons this whole thing felt too rushed for Weinstein and co.

Right now, it looks like Dimension is waiting for Lussier, and that means "Halloween 3-D" is not completely dead. At least for now, it's only delayed. I'm happy about that, because I've had it with "Halloween" for a while.
