Tyler Perry signs to direct 'For Colored Girls'

Tyler Perry isn't slowing down a bit. He's got "Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself" opening this September, and he's got "Why Did I Get Married Too" set for a Spring 2010 release.
On top of that, he's now all set to write, direct and produce a big-screen version of Ntozake Shange's 1975 play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf."
Perry's longtime partner Lionsgate has acquired the rights to the flick, and "Girls" is set to shoot in Atlanta this November, according to Variety.
The play "For Colored Girls" includes 20 poems focusing on love, abandonment, rape, and abortion. It's a little too early to speculate on what Perry will do with this specifically, but looking back at his recent flicks, I have a thought: it may focus on several characters going through a life-changing makeover.
I really applaud Perry for doing this much and all, but his films have become too monotonous and predictable for my taste. It's time for a change, no?
