'The Road' gets five new clips and a bad review

I've been looking forward to John Hillcoat's "The Road" for a while now, and it looks like the film based on Cormac McCarthy's novel is still on track for its Oct. 16, 2009 release. Now five new clips have debuted online, and you can see them after the jump.
"The Road" is the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father (Viggo Mortensen) and his young son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth.
Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Robert Duvall and Garret Billahunt co-star, and I admit I'm intrigued by the footage I've seen so far. Someone who has seen the film already, however, pretty much hated it: Todd McCarthy from Variety. Read his review, and you will see he didn't like this one.
Still, I'm looking forward to this and will be making my own judgment as soon as I get to see it. Now, let's check out these clips, shall we?

Looks good. Viggo looks good as well. It looks like it could be an oscar contender. On a side note, I think people who go see this because they expect a No Country For Old Men film are going to be mad. Looks much different from No Country, the filmmaking that is. It'll earn its spot among the other McCarthy novels adapted into film.
