'Resident Evil: Afterlife' starts production

Good news for "Resident Evil" fans! The fourth installment in the popular series has just started production in Toronto. That's right folks, "Resident Evil: Afterlife" is definitely on its way, with a release set for 2010.

Screen Gems and Constantin Film made the announcement today, confirming the movie will be shot and released in 3D. Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter and Spencer Locke are back to reprise their roles.

Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates have joined the cast. Paul W. S. Anderson wrote "Afterlife" and is producing and directing. Constantin Film’s Bernd Eichinger is on board to co-produce the flick.

“It is tremendously exciting to bring a new chapter in the ‘Resident Evil’ saga to life with such a talented group of actors and filmmakers,” said producer Robert Kulzer. “It gets better every time.”

Anderson said this about the plot, “Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score."

My two cents: I enjoyed the first "Resident Evil" because it was brainless fun, but I hated the second. The third one, "Resident Evil: Exctinction," exceed my low expectations. Let's hope this new one won't suck!
