George Tillman Jr. is close to reaching a deal to direct "Faster," a revenge action drama CBS Films is developing with Dwayne Johnson in the lead role. Tillman Jr. most recently directed the biopic "Notorious."

In the film, Johnson plays a dude named Driver, an ex-con who heads out to avenge the death of his brother, who was murdered in a heist gone wrong years eariler. Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the screenplay.

Tillman Jr. is known mostly for directing 2000's "Men of Honor." His credits also include "Soul Food," and he also produced the "Barbershop" films, "Beauty Shop," and more recently, "Nothing Like the Holidays."

As for Johnson, he's really building himself a movie career. The "Race to Witch Mountain" star voices a lead character in the upcoming animated film "Planet 51," and he will star in "Tooth Fairy" and "The Other Guys."

While Johnson did appear in a number of decent films, he also completed some stinkers. "The Game Plan" and "Doom," for instance, are two films I really wish never happened.
