Earlier this month, news came out of Hollywood that Columbia hired Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to write "Hancock 2." It was then reported Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman would return for the sequel.
As it turns out, this is not entirely true. When speaking with Coming Soon recently, Bateman at least said no one has contacted him yet about reprising his role in the follow-up to the disastrous "Hancock."
"No one has contacted me or anybody that represents me to ask if we were interested. I don't know anything about it. It's surprising to me that Variety would write that story because they're usually pretty well vetted before they report something and that was completely false. I haven't heard anything about it."
Still, Bateman also said he would love to be part of the film, so I guess he's now waiting for someone to get in touch with him first. To tell you the truth, I hope he gets on board, because if he doesn't, this sequel will just totally crash.
Bateman, who is currently one of my favorite actors, recently delivered a superb performance in Mike Judge's new comedy "Extract." BTW, he also said the "Arrested Development" movie is currently in development, with a possible shoot next year.
