John Malkovich, Dylan Walsh and Scott Glenn are the latest to join Randall Wallace's upcoming Walt Disney horse movie "Secretariat." Diane Lane is also on board in the lead role of Penny Tweedy, the American racehorse owner whose thoroughbred Secretariat won the 1973 Tripe Crown.
Penny first stepped into the world of horses and racing when she took over her father’s horse farm in Virginia. Following her horse’s extraordinary win, she later became known as the “first lady of racing.” Walsh is set to play her husband, and Malkovich plays a horse trainer. Glenn stars as an aristocrat.
Mike Rich ("The Nativity Story") wrote the script for the film, which kicks off shooting this week in Louisiana and Kentucky. Wallace's directing credits include “The Man in the Iron Mask” and Mel Gibson’s war drama “We Were Soldiers.”
Malkovich recently starred in "Burn After Reading." He's got "Jonah Hex" coming up soon. Walsh will soon be seen in "The Stepfather," and Glenn is currently filming "Sucker Punch."
