Pixar's 'Up' lands at top of overseas box office

Pixar's superb animated adventure "Up" flew to the top of the international box office this weekend with $13.7 million in ticket sales. The film, which is currently playing in 23 markets, lifted its total gross to $196.7 million.
At No. 2, Quentin Tarantino's excellent WWII drama "Inglourious Basterds" picked up $11.2 million, bringing its overseas cume to $115.7 million. Following in third place with $9.4 million was "The Ugly Truth," which brought its cumulative gross to $44.9 million.
Recent box office champion "The Final Destination" dropped to No. 4 this weekend, pulling another $9.2 million from ticket sales in 35 markets. The horror flick's total haul currently stands at $70.4 million.
Meanwhile, "District 9" picked up $8.5 million at No. 5, reaching a total gross of $47.8 million. Not far behind, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" debuted with $6 million.
Other results from the overseas box office: "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" picked up $3.7 million; "G-Force" took home $3 million; "The Proposal" reached $134.9 million; and "The Hangover" brought its total to $178.6 million.

Overall, I think it's just becoming a trend to go with single word titles in animated films. I just watched a trailer for Dream-work's "How To Train Your Dragon" and the announcer repeatedly just referred to it as Dream-work's "Dragons" although the longer title was on the preview. I could understand not wanting to say the title over and over (since it is kinda long), but to not say it at all? I just thought it was weird.
