Shawn Levy to direct 'Real Steel' for DreamWorks

Shawn Levy

"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" director Shawn Levy is set to helm DreamWorks' upcoming "Real Steel," a futuristic robot boxing movie Peter Berg was supposed to direct. With Berg out, Levy will now take a stab at it.

Set in the future, the film focuses on a world in which human boxing is forbidden. Instead, big humanoid robots step in to take over the sport. The flick follows a father and his troubled son, who decide to train one heck of an awesome fighter.

John Gatins, the man behind "Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story" and "Coach Carter," completed the most recent draft. DreamWorks's Stacey Snider told The Hollywood Reporter the company is "thrilled" to be working with Levy, who also directed the first "Night of the Museum."

Levy's other credits include the awful "The Pink Panther," "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Big Fat Liar." He currently has "Date Night" in production.
