Here's what Pixar's 'Cars 2' will be about

As you may have heard already, Pixar is developing "Cars 2," and the last thing I heard about the film was that Walt Disney moved up the release date for the Brad Lewis-helmed animated film from 2012 to 2011. Today I have more details about the sequel.

During a presentation in London, Pixar man John Lasseter had quite a few things to say about the plot of "Cars 2," and Empire has all the details. After the jump, find out what to expect from Lightning McQueen and his fellow cars...

"The story sees Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), his pit team and new pit boss Mater head around the world for the Race of Champions, to take place in five different countries and involve the champions of different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving."

The cars will really drive around the world this time; I hear they'll race in Tokyo, Germany, Paris and even London. As for Mater, he will also become involved in a case of mistaken identity and end up in a huge spy thriller kind of situation.

Sounds exciting at this time. I'm not the biggest sequel fan and prefer to see Pixar entertain me with original ideas and characters, but "Cars" was a lot of fun and I don't mind checking back in with these racing guys for second lap.
