Bad Boys 2

The "Bad Boys" will soon return to the big screen, as Columbia Pictures is prepping a third installment in the popular series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. "Bad Boys 3" is only in the earliest developmental stages right now, but I'm sure we'll hear more about it once a script nears completion.

The Hollywood Reporter says Peter Craig is set to write the third film. Plot details are unknown at this point, but the film will follow the latest adventures of Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. No deals have been made with either Smith or Lawrence at this stage.

As for Michael Bay, he's not committed to the project yet either. However, if the story is right and the studio can figure out the whole budget situation, all three may in the end return for a third round of explosive action and light, brainless humor.

As far as I'm concerned, count me among those who enjoyed Bay's "Bad Boys II." Despite the ridiculous plot and silly action, I found it very easy to watch the film without having to complain too much. Will I be looking forward to "Bad Boys 3" then? Probably.

What are your thoughts on this? Excited about the boys returning? Or do you absolutely hate the idea? Sound off below.
