'Inglourious Basterds' dominates overseas box office

Quentin Tarantino's fantastic WWII drama "Inglourious Basterds" rushed to the top of the international box office this weekend with an esimated $27.5 million in 22 markets, scoring the best opening for a Tarantino flick overseas. Domestically, the film also took the crown with $37.6 million.

Worldwide, "Basterds" pulled in $65.1 million this weekend. In the R-rated film, Brad Pitt stars as Lt. Aldo Raine, who assembles a gang of Jewish soldiers making it their mission to kill every Nazi they encounter on their way to Paris.

At No. 2, Stephen Sommers' action flick "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" took home another $14 million, reaching an overseas total of $118 million. Following in third place with $9.1 million was Disney's "G-Force," which brought its total haul to $54.4 million.

Meanwhile, Pixar's "Up" finished fourth this weekend, bagging $8.7 million for a cumulative gross of $142.5 million. David Yates' "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" pulled in $8.6 million at No. 5, reaching a cume of $596 million.

Here are some other results from the overseas box office this weekend: "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" collected $6.4 million, while "The Hangover" brought in another $7 million. "The Proposal" took $4.2 million, while "District 9" took $3.5 million.
