Ryan Reynolds goes underground in 'Buried'

Rodrigo Cortés is filming a thriller entitled "Buried," and Ryan Reynolds ("The Proposal") literally goes underground as the lead character in the movie. This is definitely nothing for folks with claustrophobia.

Chris Sparling wrote the script, which centers on a civilian contractor (Reynolds) who's kidnapped and awakens in the Iraqi desert in a coffin with only a phone and a lighter at his disposal.

The folks at Twitch have posted the first two stills from the film, and you can check out one above. It looks awesome, and I can only hope Sparling's script is filled with intensity and maybe one or the other twist. This is quite an intriguing premise indeed.

Reynolds has been doing a lot of different stuff on the big screen recently, and his past performances worked really well. I particularly enjoyed him in "The Proposal," but he also delivered the goods in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and even "Adventureland."

We'll keep you posted as we hear more about "Buried."
