DiCamillo's 'Magician's Elephant' set for big screen

Author Kate DiCamillo's upcoming children's book "The Magician's Elephant" is already being prepared for a big-screen adaptation, and Martin Hynes is set to write the screenplay for Fox. The book will be published this fall, by the way.
Variety says the story follows the events that happen when a fortune teller tells an orphan boy that he will find his lost sister with the help of an elephant.
Here's part of what Hynes told the trade:
"What attracted me to the project was that Fox wanted to make a fable which could both be a classic but not take itself too seriously. The film we've referenced in terms of tone is 'The Princess Bride' -- something that kids will enjoy, but adults will love on other levels."
DiCamillo also wrote "The Tale of Despereaux" and "Because of Winn Dixie," two books that have already found their way to the big screen. As for Hynes, his credits include "The Go-Getter." He also furnished the story for "Stealing Harvard."
