Monday morning movie news: 'Kick-Ass' finds distributor; Writers board 'Brewster's Millions'

• Time to kick butt! Lionsgate to distribute 'Kick-Ass' in wide 2010 release
Matthew Vaughn's upcoming action comedy "Kick-Ass" has found a distribution home as Lionsgate has landed domestic rights to the flick. Based on the comic book series by Mark Millar, the film follows a boring high school student (played by Aaron Johnson) who attempts to become a real-life superhero named Kick-Ass.
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicholas Cage, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Chloe Moretz co-star. Footage from the film was shown at this year's Comic-Con, and it sure received a bunch of of positive responses. (Variety)
• Writing duo to pen new take on McCutcheon novel 'Brewster's Millions'
Michael Diliberti (associate producer on "Stop-Loss") and Matthew Sullivan are set to write "Brewster's Millions" for Warner Bros. It's a new version of George Barr McCutcheon's 1902 novel.
The story follows a man who inherits $1 million from his grandfather and could inherit another $7 million from an uncle as long as he spends the $1 million within a year and without ending up with any assets. (The Hollywood Reporter)
• Alfie Allen joins Mark Elliot's 'Powder' cast
Lilly Allen's brother Alfie Allen has joined Liam Boyle in "Powder," based on the novel by Kevin Sampson. Up-and-coming actors Jefferson Hall, Al Weaver, Jo Woodcock and Vinette Robinson co-star in the Mark Elliot-directed film. (THR)
Here's the book's story as described by Amazon.co.uk:
Can any young pop group evade the pitfalls of fame, sex, drugs and all their inherent baggage? Will the Grams headline Glastonbury? And, crucially, can their guitarist achieve orgasm with a fully-limbed lover?
• What's up with that fourth 'Bourne' film? Not much yet, according to Matt Damon
We've been hearing several things about a fourth "Bourne" movie during tha past months, but I still don't really know where the project's at these days. The Playlist has posted a quote Matt Damon recently gave Entertainment Weekly. Here's part of it:
"We're hoping to make a fourth, but we don't have a story and we don't have a script. I assume it can happen, but we have to come up with a storyline that's deserving. I mean, if you see the Bourne character come out again and say, 'I can't remember,' you're going to get up and leave the theater."
I don't believe everything actors or filmmakers say before it's official, and I urge you to use these words with care. We've been hearing quite a few things from people in the biz recently that simply weren't true (like Gary Oldman and his "Dark Knight" sequel rumor. (via /Film)
