Hear! Hear! Robert Downey Jr. as Lestat?

If we keep going at this rate, we will soon see more vampire flicks than 3D films on the big-screen. This blood-sucker boom is really spinning out of control, and every day we hear or read about a new vampire movie hitting development. Thanks, "Twilight."
Okay, according to BloodyDisgusting.com, Universal Pictures is apparently considering relaunching "The Vampire Chronicles," based on the novels by Anne Rice. The stories follow Lestat de Lioncourt, a nobleman who's turned into a vampire. And tada, here's the guy who's also apparently attached to star as Lestat:
Robert Downey Jr.! Yes, Iron Man himself could be jumping into the role of a vampire, this according to BloodyDisgusting's sources. Please be careful with this information as nothing has been announced officially at this point, but if it turned out to be true, this project would definitely get me excited as well.
Downey Jr. is currently kicking ass in Hollywood. Recent flicks include the awesome "Iron Man" and touching "The Soloist," and he will soon be seen in "Sherlock Holmes" and "Iron Man 2." You go Robert! We would love to see you suck on some blood on the big-screen.
Head to Anne Rice's page @www.annerice.com for more info on her novels.

UPDATE!!!! Apparently, Anne Rice herself has no clue Universal is working on this. As I said in the story, be careful with these rumors. Anyway, maybe we do get to see Rob as Lestat IF this ever gets made...
