David Mamet to direct 'Anne Frank' movie

Oscar-nominated filmmaker David Mamet is set to write and direct a new big-screen version of "The Diary of Anne Frank," which Disney will develop.

Variety says the project will be based on the play by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich, and Mamet's own version of the famous true story.

Of course, the focus will remain on the diary Anne Frank wrote while hiding from the Nazis in the secret attic apartment in Amsterdam.

Mamet recently directed "Redbelt," a film I admit I haven't seen yet. I did however highly enjoy "Spartan," "Heist" and even "State and Main."
