'Revenge of the Fallen' owns Friday box office

Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" clung to the No. 1 spot at the North American box office Friday with an estimated $17.8 million in ticket sales.

The sequel to "Transformers" reached an impressive 10-day total of $268.7 million. "Fallen" shortly lost its box office crown to "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" Wednesday, but the explosive action flick took the lead again Thursday.

At No. 2, "Dinosaurs" collected $17 million, bringing its total gross to $41.9 million after only three days in release. The third installment in the popular "Ice Age" series is currently playing at 4,099 locations.

Meanwhile, new entry "Public Enemies" took home $10.1 million in third place, lifting its domestic total to $25 million. The Michael Mann-directed crime drama stars Johnny Depp as American bank robber John Dillinger.

At No. 4, Anne Fletcher's romantic comedy "The Proposal" picked up another $5.1 million for a cume of $86.6 million. Following in fifth place with $4.5 million was Todd Phillips' "The Hangover," which reached a cumulative gross of $198.2 million.
