'Revenge of the Fallen' beats 'Ice Age' Thursday

Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" jumped back to No. 1 at the North American box office Thursday with an estimated $11.5 million in ticket sales at 4,234 locations.

"Revenge of the Fallen" lost the top spot to new entry "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" Wednesday, but the "Transformers" sequel managed to win Thursday's race by a narrow $400,000. "Dinosaurs" took home $11.1 million from ticket sales at 4,032 locations.

Bay's "Fallen" lifted its domestic total to $250.9 million after one week in release. The third "Ice Age" flick brought its two-day total to $24.9 million.

Meanwhile, "Public Enemies," this week's second major release, collected $6.6 million in third place, bringing its two-day gross to $14.8 million. The Michael Mann-directed crime drama stars Johnny Depp as American bank robber John Dillinger.

Other results from Thursday's box office: "The Proposal" picked up $3.4 million at No. 4, while "The Hangover" earned $3 million at No. 5.
