Paul W.S. Anderson to direct 'Warded Man'

Paul W. S. Anderson will direct and co-produce the big-screen adaptation of Peter V. Brett's fantasy novel "The Warded Man." Jeremy Bolt will serve as a producer on the project.

The story is set in a future world where humans are permanently attacked by demons. Three people, including the lead character, are the only ones with the potential to save mankind.

"Warded Man" is the first book in a trilogy entitled "The Demon Cycle." The book was published in the U.K. before hitting stores in the U.S., giving Anderson the chance to land the rights early.

Anderson last directed "Death Race." He will also helm the upcoming "Resident Evil" sequel "Resident Evil: Afterlife." On the producing side, Anderson has "Pandorum" opening in September.
