'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' joins box office race

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs tops Wednesday box office

Although Michael Bay's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" still dominated the North American box office with $13.5 million in ticket sales Tuesday, new entry "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" took the crown Wednesday.

Estimates show the latest installment in the "Ice Age" series brought in $14 million. The animated film opened at 3,993 locations Wednesday. Meanwhile, "Revenge of the Fallen" scored around $10 million, lifting its total gross to $238 million.

Also opening Wednesday was Michael Mann's crime drama "Public Enemies," which grabbed $8 million. Starring Johnny Depp, the film follows the adventures of American bank robber John Dillinger.

This holiday weekend should be an interesting, as the box office race between "Fallen" and "Dinosaurs" will intensify. Full estimates for Wednesday will be available later today.

I don't know where you are getting this bogus information, but Transformers 2 broke a record at the box office on Wednesday with $16 million in the U.S.

"Transformers" broke the record last Wednesday. Anyway, next weekend, it is expected that "Ice Age" surpass the robots of Michael Bay. Realy surprising is the performance of "Public Enemies". God bless Johnny Deep.

It's sad when the two biggest summer movies are either stupid sequals based on robot toys or stupid sequals based on CGI sloths.
