'Terminator Salvation' takes overseas b.o. lead
McG's "Terminator Salvation" took the No. 1 spot at the international box office this weekend with an impressive $67.5 million in ticket sales. The film's total currently stands at $97.2 million.
At No. 2, Shawn Levy's Ben Stiller comedy "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" collected another $26.7 million, bringing its overseas gross to $148.4 million.
Meanwhile, Ron Howard's "The Da Vinci Code" follow-up "Angels & Demons" finished in third place, taking home $22.3 million for a cumulative gross of $293 million.
Pixar's animated family adventure "Up" picked up $7.8 million at No. 4 for an early international total of $13.5 million. The film is currently playing in four markets on the circuit.
J.J. Abrams' sci-fi hit "Star Trek" placed fifth this weekend, earning $6 million in 62 territories for a total international haul of $112 million.
Other results from the overseas box office: "Hannah Montana: The Movie" scored another $5.6 million for a total of $43.5 million; "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" pulled $3.2 million ($176.2 million); and Sam Raimi's "Drag Me to Hell" generated $2.4 million.
