Cam Gigandet teams with Paul Bettany for 'Priest'

Cam Gigandet, who played James in "Twilight," is set to join Paul Bettany in Scott Stewart's upcoming "Priest," based on TokyoPop's comic book of the same title.

Cory Goodman wrote the screenplay for the project, which follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns his back on the church to free his kidnapped niece from the hands of some ruthless vampires.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gigandet plays a sheriff who is part vampire and teams up with the priest to save the girl.

Gigandet, whose credits also include "Never Back Down," received a career boost thanks to his "Twilight" role. The actor has a bunch of projects in the works, including "The Roommate" and "Easy A."

As fof Bettany, he recently starred in the disappointing "Inkheart" and "The Secret Life of Bees." Anyone of you guys ever read the comic? Let me know what you think about it!
