Diane Lane books lead role in 'Secretariat'

Diane Lane will take over the lead in Randall Wallace's upcoming Disney horse flick "Secretariat," according to Variety.
The Oscar-nominated actress will slip into the role of Penny Chenery, an American racehorse owner whose thoroughbred Secretariat won the 1973 Tripe Crown.
Chenery first stepped into the world of horses and racing when she took over her father’s horse farm in Virginia. Following her horse’s extraordinary win, she later became known as the “first lady of racing.”
Mike Rich ("The Nativity Story") wrote the script. Wallace's directing credits include “The Man in the Iron Mask” and Mel Gibson’s war drama “We Were Soldiers.”
As for Lane, she recently starred in the mediocre "Nights in Rodanthe." No offense against her (she's beautiful), but I've kind of had it with horse flicks for a while. How about you?

"Nights in Rodanthe" wasn't great, but I thought it was good.
Yes, Diane is beautiful.
I think the role of Penny Chenery (thank God for the "r") will be a wonderful one for her, and will probably get her some deserved recognition.
How many horse movies have you seen to be tired of them? Secretariat won't hit the screen for another year. I, for one, will race to see it as soon as it gets to the local movie theater (pun intended). Of course, I'd race to see any Diane Lane movie, regardless of what the critics say about it.
A movie finally about the Greatest Racehorse EVER! You betcha bumble I am going to be there to see it! I hope there wont be any idiotic stupid mistakes in the filming. They are supposedly using a few major racehorse insiders to keep it REAL!! Please no fake horse heads in the shots ok! This is a Serious horse and needs a perfectly serious treatment!!
