Haneke's 'White Ribbon' wins Palm d'Or at Cannes

Michael Haneke's "Das weiße Band" (The White Ribbon) won the prestigious Palm d'Or Sunday at the 62nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The film follows the events in a German small-town school in the eve of World War I.
Meanwhile, Jacques Audiard's "Un prophète" (A Prophet) received the Grand Prix award. The drama follows what happens to an Arab man when he is sent to a French prison.
Brillante Mendoza won best director for "Kinatay," while Andrea Arnold's "Fish Tank" and Park Chan-wook's "Thirst" both took home the Jury prize.
In the acting category, Christoph Waltz was awarded the award for his role in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds," while Charlotte Gainsbourg won best actress in Lars von Trier's horror drama "Antichrist."
Mei Feng took home the best screenplay award for "Spring Fever," "Samson and Delilah" picked up the Camera d'Or, and "Farewell Gary" won the Critics' Week Grand Prix.
