'Terminator Salvation' web reviews

Christian Bale is John Connor in Terminator Salvation

McG's "Terminator Salvation" has finally arrived, and fans can flock to theaters to see Christian Bale battle the machines as John Connor. But what do some of the Web's critics have to say about this latest "Terminator" installment? Let's find out:

Cinematical's Erik Davis: "The outcome is a product that lacks a cohesive structure and suffers from too-many-hands-in-the-cookie-jar syndrome."

• Katey Rich at CinemaBlend: "But as a place to start, 'Terminator Salvation' isn't half bad, and definitely a promising start to a revival of the franchise."

• Cole Abaius at Film School Rejects: "The acting is good, but the characters play no role in pushing the action. The movie could have been made without them and would have been exactly the same."

LatinoReview's Ron Henriques: "The series looked bleak for me following the last film, but now I'm optimistic. With or without McG, in the right hands and with a good story, we could have a second trilogy that may rival the first."

Joblo's JimmyO: "So if you go in just expecting to be wowed by some strong visual effects that fill up a good chunk of 'Salvation,' you will have a good enough time. But if you go in hoping for another great 'Terminator' film, you are going to be disappointed."

RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "This is one of those few times I am giving a low grade to a film I don't have any kind of animosity toward as much as I have no interest. 'Terminator Salvation' bored me."

• Brian Orndorf at BrianOrndorf.com: "While “Salvation” makes a game attempt to rile up the screwball continuity of this franchise to introduce a new wellspring of adventure for John Connor, the choices made by McG and his crew smother the nuances James Cameron worked diligently to generate."

• Mick LaSalle at SFGate: "'Terminator Salvation' looks busy, but it's static. The thing doesn't budge. It's an epic waste of time."

This movie didn’t disappoint as far as giving a few tributes to T1 and T2 from Terminator Salvation. Some nods to the originals were:

• Ghetto blaster blaring You Could Be Mine by Guns ‘N Roses
• Arnold inside the "terminator factory"
• Terminator factory from Terminator 2: Judgment Day trailer

after Terminator Salvation, i count a total of three choices in the Christian Bale voice arsenal: his normal voice (with a lisp), Broadway singer (Newsies) and hoarse tough guy (Batman and Terminator)
